Established
in 1929, by John Archer who started on Norwich provision market. John
Archer went on to run five shops in and around Norwich. His son James
came into the trade the day he was legally allowed to leave school. James
bought the business off his father in the early eighties.
|
|
Since
then the business has developed and progressed complying with all the
hygiene regulations. Over the last three years the shop has doubled in
size enabling complete separation of cooked meats and fresh meats.
|
|
James
buys his beef "on the hoof" from J Temple & Son of Wells, North Norfolk.
The beef is farm assured as are the lambs, which are reared on a farm
in Lincolnshire. The pork is locally produced and carries enough fat to
give it flavour and succulence.
|
|
The
shop sells all the traditional cuts of meat and that is still the main
stay of the business. Marinaded meats are also a feature and a large display
can be seen in the shop. Archers famous sausages continue to be increasingly
popular and travel far and wide.
|
|
The
other half of the shop is dedicated to delicatessen products and our famous
take away selling hot carved meats into freshly baked baguettes.
